Please help. My mom asked me to babysit her cat and kittens. I got them to my house the kittens are covered in fleas. I've treated them for that and put frontline on the mother. My main concern is that the mother is acting really weird. She is walking around all scrunched up, with all four paws together, like a dog pooping. Then she'll throw herself sideways. She also pooped on the floor and rolled around in it. Is she sick or just stressed? Never saw a cat walk like that. My mom said she found her once unable to move. Could this be related?

Took her to the vet turns out she is in heat. She is just a little more dramatic than most.

Please ask your mom to get her spayed then - presumably the vet suggested this! Spaying is important for the cat's health. Just the other day there was someone on here whose unspayed cat now had a pyometra (fatal womb infection). Tell your mom this!

Also this sounds like fairly normal cat in heat behaviour, not more dramatic.

your not suppost to use anything on a mother cat while she still has her kittens around.
She could be acting this way because the frontline is hurting her tender nipples.
IS SHE STILL FEEDING THE KITTENS?
or has she stopped ? She might be hurting do to not feeded her babies because of the treatment.
Kittens should not have any kind of flea control until they are 8 weeks old.** unless you wash them in DAWN dish soap and comb them out***.
Best thing to do now is go to the vet ASAP
The Mother is not acting right at all.

Best of Luck

My cat had lumps like yours, and didn't liked to be touched, but the vet said the lumps were normal and she was fine. However, its best to get her checked out anyway, just to be safe. If she is not eating, something may be wrong.

You need to take this cat to the vet immediately. The behavior that you described is not normal.

****HOW DID YOU TREAT THE KITTENS???****

I hope to God it wasn't flea medication!!!!!

You are to *never* treat kits with flea applications!

I guarantee that momma kitty has licked all of the meds off of the kits and now she is poisoned. Get the momma AND the kits to a vet hospital ASAP!
