Does your dog food contain red dye?
Regurgitated blood doesn't look red, it looks black, almost like coffee grounds.
If your food does contain dyes, I'd suggest switching to a high quality dye free food.
Is it possible your dog got into something?

If blood is coughed out, the source is from the respiratory system. If it is vomitted out, then source is the digestive tract. Wherever the blood comes and whatever is the cause, it should never be taken for granted. Go to see a doctor immediately. Think of keeping your life safe first, it could be pretty an emergency. Think of the rest later, in every problem there is a solution.

Is he on any medications? How about heartworm prevention? Flea and tick control?
I think you should throw away the current bag of food and feed something new and call the vet back and fast him for at least 24 hours.

How do you know which dog threw up?
Are you sure it wasn't your other dog?
If it were me I would take the other dog to the vet too.
Blood isn't a good sign.
Keep a close eye on both of your dogs but, please have your other dog checked out by the vet.

if the vet checked him and said he is ok, i would chill for a few days, if the dog does it again get him back to the vet. he will do it more than 1 time if he is sick.
