Worms and stink baits work best for the Catfish you will find in the pond probably. Some of the artificial worms with smell built in might be worth a try too.
Salted minnows or large live minnows are good if you are going after Channel Cats in the river or lake. My uncle used to use 6" long minnows for Channels Catfish in the Mississippi in Minnesota.
Have fun and make sure you have the rod setup so it can't be pulled in the water. I've almost lost a couple rods to Catfish that grab and run! Watch the line too... sometimes they run toward you .
Have fun

There is no "best bait" to catch catfish. Some days they will bite worms, some days crickets, some days minnows, some days raw chicken liver, and some days plain old balls of white bread. I suggest you take some of each of the baits I have mentioned and try them all.

catfish are bottom feeders -- so just about anything -- use a hunk of a hot dog -- or soft dog kibble, or sprinkle dog kibble on the top of the pond and you will see all kinds of fish - even the cats come to the surface.
no nee to buy bait for catfish -- just use something meaty from the fridge that needs to get used up anyway!
good luck!

Depends on the cats and how much pressure they get.
I'd use chicken livers, or shrimp (not canned/tinned shrimp).
If legal, bluegills work for fltaheads, as do shad and bullheads.
Cutbait is always killer, like cut suckers!
I know some guys use commercial stink baits, but I hate being around that stuff. I prefer fresh cutbait.

I always have great success with worms, or chicken livers. The blood draws them in. Best of Luck!

5-day old chicken livers work well. You want to use something that smells like you wouldn't want to eat it because catfish search for food by odor.

Catfish will eat almost anything thats at the bottom; but there is nothing like a fat nitecrawler to whet its appetite.
