Is the SB-600 wireless technology compatible with the D40 Camera?

The SB600 is a perfect match as I use one on my D70 and my D50. It's a Nikon iTTL flash that provides several features not found on the economy SB400.

The motorized zoom head and the two-way tilting flash head are priceless. I used the horizontal tilt for bounce flash when I have my Nikon DSLR turned sideways for portrait mode.

And as for your wireless questions...

True, it costs more and it's larger - but you won't regret choosing it over the SB400.

in case you like a small flash it is so plenty greater efficient than the on-digital camera flash on your like minded Nikon digital camera, this may well be a great flash. greater effective than something, that's a greater useful than on-digital camera flash that still has bounce potential, which not one of the on-digital camera flashes do. For me, it would not replace an entire-featured flash like and SB-800 or SB-six hundred, yet is plenty smaller and lighter for many situations once you do no longer want the great mama. that's no longer efficient adequate case in point to bounce if the ceiling is bigger than 10 or eleven ft with decrease ISO settings, the place the SB-800 can nevertheless attain.

3 things ...
First: The cost but since you ask... not a problem
Second: The size... SB 600 its much bigger than a SB400 but can do much more...
Third: Do you know what bouncing is... if you try it... you can't stop... the sb-400 can bounce but only horizontally... the SB 600 can do it in any direction and is more powerful and in bouncing power is everything... That's why I own the SB-800

If the cost is not an issue, get the SB-600. It's "much more" flash with more features.

I learned long ago that its better to have a feature and not need it than to need it and not have it. Buy the SB-600 and learn to take advantage of all its features. You'll be glad you have them.
