i add a tbsp of instant coffee granules to any and all chocolate cake/brownie/candy recipe. it helps bring out the flavor of the chocolate. the darker the chocolate, the better! what i do is dissolve the coffee in the liquid called for in the recipe (usually water or milk).

it just adds to the flavor of chocolate, you won't taste the coffee itself. my father-in-law HATES coffee but loves chocolate. he has no idea he's been having some coffee in my cakes! try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

There are many baking recipes that contain brewed coffee or instant coffee in them, very few have ground coffee in them. Here is one I found:

CHOCOLATE CHIP DATE COFFEE CAKE

1 c. chopped dates
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 tsp. soda
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. coffee grounds
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda

Combine chopped dates, water and soda, set aside to cool. Cream butter, sugar add beaten eggs, add flour and soda, vanilla mix well. Stir in dates and coffee grounds. Put in a greased and floured 9 x 13 x 2 pan. Then take 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup chopped nuts, 1 cup chocolate chips. Mix and sprinkle on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes golden brown.

Yes. It was called "cowboy coffee." Drank a lot of it while backpacking through Alaska and the Yukon.

It wasn't much better than boiled water, but it did have more zip to it...

Not ground coffee beans, but I do have a couple that use brewed coffee or instant coffee (or espresso) granules.
