Any sort of jam with any sort of cheese is delicious on toast. A fine fig conserve is also a tasty accompaniment to cheese on a platter with crackers.

Cream cheese goes very well with all kinds of sweet spreads, any jam/preserve would do, but it's also great with chutneys.

Well, I've eaten it on a bagel, so why not toast? Sure, I'd tray it. But it would have to be good artisan bread, not some sandwich loaf.
