I'm totally able to pay for spading and chipping...I'd just like to know how I should handle the persons to whom I donated litter and food to (before I found the kitten roaming)

I found the kitten running around the neighborhood and the "owners" are not home.

Just keep the kitten, get it fixed, and find it a new home. They obviously don't care for it,or they wouldn't have let it out.I had to deal with this type of thing over the summer,my neighbors would get kittens and just throw them outside - no food,no shots, female kittens. My other neighbors and I "stole" them so they would be safe. Some people are just dumb when it comes to animals, they think that small kittens are able to take care of themselves, alone, outside. It's best just to make the kitten "disappear."

I don't know how to handle that sort of thing. People don't like to be told how to handle their animals unfortunately. NO kitten should ever be outside the house before it has had all its shots and been neutered.!

I hope you are more diplomatic than I and can convince them to keep it indoors until next spring at least.
