If you are old enough to date then yes! you can. Now a days we are becoming more practicale than ever that's why asking a guy for a date is now common all around the world.

first of all....WHY WOULDN'T YOU ASK HIM OUT???
i mean are u nervous, shy, feeling slightly insecure?
or are u scared of possible rejection??
or are u scared....WHAT DO YOU DO IF HE SAYS YES???
ok ok coool !! any of those i can help u with.
most of the damb time.... those fears u have... are really that acurate. we judge ourselves too harshly. and some of the assumptions we make.... especially about the opposite sex.. usually are wrong!!!
for example...if u think hes hot and u then start to 2nd guess yourself and say.... oh well he probably only likes "this type" or girl or "that type" and ohhh thats so not me... so why should i even try to ask him out? why even bother!?
ok if thats what you are doing hot swimmer babe..THEN STOP!!
cuz thats actually REJECTING HIM YOURSELF BEFORE YOU EVEN TRY.
cuz when u do all that assuming.... u are then actually saying...
"yea i know what his type is...and i'm not it (but usually u say this cuz of ego and fear of rejection)..." so u are saying "no" to yourself to asking him out!!
