I was opening the cork, and whole bottle broke apart and cut my hand! It's a champgne-like wine called Banfi Rosa Regali

Sorry!
When sparkling wine is cold enough it won't explode, when it's warm it might! Was it really chilled down?
I prescribe two shots of good 100% Blue Agave to sooth your hurt hand and feelings!
Take the darn shards back to the store and let them buy you a bottle of something else!

Did u use a corkscrew to open the bottle? Check this web site out http://www.wineintro.com/champagne/open/

if u use a corkscrew the bottle could explode since the bottle is under a lot of pressure.

Your wine underwent a second fermentation in the bottle. This caused it to explode in your hand and cut you.

The link describes the process more in depth.

Hmm, could have been a hairline fracture in teh bottle somewhere, that just couldn't stand up to the pressure inside, and uncorking it aggravated it. Sorry about that.

Ouch, I cut my face on a beer bottle because I was too piss drunk to realize that the bottle I was drinking out of was broken.

did you shake the bottle??
then if you did the combination of gas, acid and liquefied molecules inside the bottle cause the explosion of the bottle...
that's number one..
if you didn't shake the bottle then its on the manufacturers fault on why they make unstable wine bottles....
maybe you should buy wines on famous manufacturers in your place...like made in Spain or somewhere....
