Hello, all:

Fellow Wiccans and Pagans, what is the silliest thing you've seen written on Yahoo!Answers about your religion? And what would you like to say in response to it?

As always, thanks to everyone who takes the time to respond.

Awww, Cara A likes me enough to commit a reportable offense. How sweet!

Pangel: I doubt it. I scanned some of her other Q&As and they're in a similar style. I think she likes to yank peoples' chains, but still, insults are insults.

I'm not Wiccan/Pagan
but I've seen something written that said wiccan/pagans we're some dirty scumbags who wear cheap, smelly jewlery, who stink and look like the streotyoplical bad witch and wore torn dirty rags for clothes and looked like they just came from He**. And that they smelled trebbile. I didnt' buy one word of this and gave him a piece of my mind. ( I think the questrion got deleated)

Cara's answer was pretty bad too.

EDIT: I see our Cara's answer got deleated

Hmm, I'm really curious what Cara said... so sad, I arrived after it was deleted. May have made for a good laugh.

I'm fairly new to Yahoo answers, so most of the anti-pagan/wiccan stuff has been general "all non Christians go to hell." But, I've had some fun times *coughs* IRL.

My mother in law is... Catholic. Not only catholic, but even more naive than most Catholics I know. She's scary in a delusional sort of way.

So she found out that I'm a non virgin pagan. And that her son, who she supposed was 100% bible thumping Catholic (no, not really, she's not good at the whole listening thing), had fallen in love with me.

I thought, I honestly did, I knew how judgemental and intolerant Christians/Catholics can be, regarding matters of faith. But I really didn't. It was a lesson that lasted a year and a half (now she mostly ignores me, since we're married), but dang.

You would NOT believe all that I was accused of. I'm serious. You'd probably think I was exaggerating. Waaay too much to fit in here, though. But it's a funny story, if you want to know, feel free to PM me

Well whatever answer I had was blown away when I seen Cara's response...
which doesn't deserve a response.

But anyway, the silliest thing I have seen on here wasn't anything to do with my religion, but on occasion I look at other religions and their questions.

I think the silliest thing(s) are the Southern Bible Belt Baptist people. Lived in the South a long time and I know they have totally different views on Religion and Spirituality than I and I find their beliefs to be just silly.

Fun question... I've seen a lot of very silly things, from both sides.

From the non-pagans, it's been something along the lines of this: "on Halloween, those devil worshipers eat aborted fetuses and have wild same-sex orgies"

From the pagans (specifically wiccans)... well it was actually a message from another user. I messaged them because they said that Wicca was an ancient religion and so on, and I wanted to clarify with them. So anyway, the next day I got a response saying that I was just trying to persecute Wiccans, and that I was a horrible and evil Christian *[for the record, I'm Wiccan]* who wanted to destroy the ancient Wiccan religion. When I did get this message, I was rather concerned for the person behind the words, and so on. But now looking back on it, I can't help almost falling out of my chair laughing whenever I think about it.

My answer is not directed at Prarie Crow, but instead to the whole series of questioners who fit my reply (I think they are the silliest things I have seen).

I think that most of the questions on Y!A R&S are by folks who are more interested in gaining points for arbitrary levels ... rather than discussing spiritual matters of substance.

If serious questions were being asked, then serious answers might be given. Instead, I have found this forum to be nothing more than an altar to some people's egos.

Stupid questions relating to "going to hell in handbaskets", and what it means to be a person "of the cloth", and many others which reflect a lack of spirituality or discovery, or understanding. The most intelligent question I saw was one asking if Pagans/Wiccans also had a creation myth. Nice question. It brought out the similarities and differences between various religions, yet still allowed folks to learn more about each other. However, the other 98% of the questions are worse than trivial ... they are often insensitive and insulting.

Many will not like what I have to say ... but that is most likely because I am talking about them. Others may not agree with me ... but then, that's what free expression is all about. A few may see my point ... but beware, if you run with scissors, you could put an eye out! (or maybe I should say, a wise man should never argue with a fool ... onlookers can't tell which is which!)

I am a 27 year practicing pagan, and consider myself to be celtic Wiccan in specific. This is a rich and rewarding path, filled with life lessons and times of great closeness to the God and Goddess. I hoped to help those with similar questions, not answer the spiritually sophomoric equivalent of "do you have prince albert in a can".

I have been both in and out of the broom closet, I have been a practicing pagan in a Republican lead board room. I have been a corporate officer in a Fortune 500 company. I have been an approved minister at several prisons and hospitals. I have conducted marriages/handfastings, and I have lead services for the dying and departed. I try to do more than talk about my faith ... I try to live it ... and to minister to others of a similar spiritual walk.

Too tough of a stance? Maybe. People are at many levels in their spiritual walk. Maybe the adage of "when the student is ready, the teacher will appear" backfired here. I showed up, but no student was ready.

So, please understand what I am trying to say. I say it with love ... and some irritation ... but that's the way we all are ... a mixed bag of emotions.

Get Real! Get Real! Get Real!

As my mother used to tell me: Life is far too short to waste your time inside ... go out and play. So don't waste time here, go out into the real world, and live your life. Ask the questions which help you along the way; and reach out a hand to help others if you can.

Blessed Be,

Solar Indigo

some of rude answers I get from Christians and how people don't answer the question their answers have nothing to with my questions . I believe they have it in for me but if they are going to make things difficult for me then I will make their lives a living hell (My parents did not call me Satan for nothing)
one of the stupidest responses Ive got was that Witches calling them self's Warlocks is an insult and my response is this : the reason some male witch don't call them self's warlocks is because they don't want the stigma that comes with being the name and some believe that it degrades females who are in the craft . The Truth is that a warlock is defined as being a male witch as such if a male witch prefers to identify him self as a warlock then that's their choice .

I'm not Wiccan but the silliest thing I ever saw on Y!A as regards to Wicca was when someone said that Wiccan girls are all sluts. That was pretty stupid.

As far as my spirituality specifically, no, can't say I've seen anything that comes to mind.

o my, where to start? i'll certainly agree with pangel that cara a is pretty close to the top of the list.
i always love the "you worship the creation not the creator" response. i'm sorry, but no i don't. i don't really feel the need to worship anything, but i do have reverence.

Oh my, where to start!

I would have to say that the silliest statement I have seen is, "Wiccan's worship the devil".

My response would be: The devil is a Christian invention and I do not acknowledge it's existence, much less worship it!

BLESSINGS!

That Wicca is a trend, invented in the past few years.

I laughed and sent the guy and email.
