tetanus shots are good for about ten years thats why they recommend adults get a booster every ten years or so, but even if it was more than five I'd get one just in case, but if less than that you will be okay. Be sure to clean the area really well with soap and antibacterial soap, keep the area clean and dry, wathc for signs of infection at the site (redness, swelling, discharge, increased pain, foul odor, and heat) if none of this occurs you are good

definitely go to the doctor asap! Especially since you've never had a tetanus shot. Getting pricked and piercing the skin with anything can be bad, but when the object was rusty, that makes for a run to the doctors immediately.

I did the same thing when I was younger. You definitely and I mean definitely need a tetnus shot. It's no big deal to get one but it is a big deal if you don't get one. You can get lock jaw.

How old are you? all childhood immunizations include tetanus. If you haven't had one in 5 years then you need to go and get a booster.

if it punctured the skin you need a tetnus, also you need to keep wound clean with peroxide and alcohol.

If you have never had your tetanus. Call your doctor and get a tetanus shot. If you dont you will either be fine or end up SICK....

well you asked this question 6hrs ago so i hope you went to the hospital/urgent care. tetanus doesn't only cause lock jaw it can actually kill you.
