Aside from that -- chocolate? By non material, do you mean it did not cost anything to obtain? Well, how about flowers from outside or an art project? You'd still have to buy the supplies, though.

The gift of everlasting life..Something God has waiting for me and every one of us who choose to live by His Word. But amongst ourselves I'd have to say love because without love for each other we have a world filled with violence, crime, and hate. So lets all love each other..the only thing we can do in times of distress.

My church holds an Alternative gift market every Christmas season. Instead of giving someone something they don't really need, you can buy a goat to feed a family in some third world country. Last year, my wife gave me the gift of a year's worth of health care for 10 children in Sub-Saharan Africa.
For her, I bought a young girl out of the sex-slave trade.
