Obviously u had a litter box in the room when the cat was locked up... right? B/c if not well this would be a silly ?..... Also if u neutered the cat after he learned to spray then he will spray urine to mark his territory. If not maybe he is pissed about the change. Maybe u can take him to the vet and see if they have any ideas. 5 is not old, very strange. 'Good luck!

A lot of the chemicals they use in fabrics smell like urine to a cat. Considering it was a new comforter, there's a high likelyhood that this was the cause of the problem. Washing the comforter a few times sometimes works, or using a very strong smelling fabric softener. But if the fibers of the comforter are really saturated with the chemical, even that may not help enough.
You can lay a plastic sheet over the bed till he gets the idea. Just get a cheap shower curtain from the Dollar Store or such. At least that'll protect the bedding.

I'd take him to the vet. He could be having bladderstone problems again. My Dad's cat had the surgery, then a year and a half later, besides being on the special diet, he got them again. This time the vet basically removed his penis and he has a little bit larger opening to pee from than a female cat. Said he shouldn't have problems again as they should flush naturally.
As far as locking the cat in the bedroom. You do have a litterbox in there when he's locked in? If not you need one. As has been stated above, if the pee smell is on the mattress he might continue peeing there. If it's not a medical problem. If you have to keep him in there get a plastic mattress cover, take everything off the bed BUT the plastic mattress cover. But make sure he has a bed or blanket to curl up on somewhere in the room.

You did no longer say whether your cat is neutered or no longer ... yet because of the fact she is peeing on those 'gentle' issues, and not on the carpet or the different furnishings, i might say that there is an extremely severe risk there is a few thing incorrect together with her urinary tract so as that she ought to pee while she's attempting to 'relax' on those gentle issues. i think of this particularly considering which you stated that she peed once you have been in the mattress under the conceal. Take your kitty to the vet and tell him what she's doing and while ... and get her an intensive examination, so she would be 'taken care of exact' for this difficulty. It has no longer something to do together with her being 'disillusioned' because of the fact she needs her muddle container wiped sparkling or has run out of water (yet you're able to ought to be extra diligent in making particular those issues are achieved on your cat's well being), yet ought to be some thing actual that desires fixing. So ... TAKE HER TO THE VET ...

Up until now at least your bedlinen had a familiar smell in an unfamiliar world..then you went and changed that as well and he is simply marking the new stuff as part of his property so that he will feel comfortable with it. Try buying him a new towel, a cheap one of course, and letting him have that on the bedroom floor, preferably with some sort of plastic underneath it. Once he has the towel good and stinky the whole room should feel okay to him..even after you wash the towel.
Oh..and if you have changed your washing powder, change back.

I would close your bedroom door once you have washed the bedding again. Don't let him in there. He is using it as a loo. Must be some sort of cotton on it that he is finding the same as going to the loo.
Or........ give it to him in his bed.. bet he doesn't do it then?
All the best now. Someone once told me it's a lack of respect that he isn't being clean. I think that maybe he just couldn't get off the bed if he was unwell. Also if he is locked in there the bedding will give him the most use to hide his wee wee.. they like to cover it. If you have to keep him in there. Strip the bed lie it on it's side and put the bedding out of sight. Leave a litter tray for him.
Best regards now

From this web page I found a paragraph that will help you.
And the page might give you tips for the cat since he is locked in your bedroom.
http://www.willasark.com/cattreatment.cfm
If your cat pees on your bed or any other "personal" lounging area, she is basically telling you she is really mad at you. So many times people have asked me, "Why does my cat pee on my bed the day I get home from vacation"? The answer is she is mad, she was lonely all the time you were gone. If you have a visitor, she might pee on the bed they are sleeping in. I'm telling you it is how they tell us not to leave them alone. Be sure to give her LOADS of affection when you return, don't let her out of your sight and take the few minutes to really show her you missed her. To be safe, curtail this by placing a shower curtain liner on the bed, with an old comforter or blanket over the plastic (important, cats like to pee on plastic) before you leave. It will save you from having to strip the entire bed before you can retire from your long day of travel.
Very important to put a old blanket on top of the shower curtain liner. (pick a cheap liner up at walmart you can even wash this in the washer on delicate when needed and hang over your bathtub curtain rod to dry or towel dry if you need it to dry sooner.

He's just not used to the newness of it - the smell, how it hasn't been marked as his territory yet. I had this happen to my female cat who is spayed. After the first time, she never did it again. If you've gotten the smell and stain out, I'm pretty sure he will get used to it soon enough. Just keep a close eye on him.

Maybe there is something in the filling that smells weird to him. I hate to say it, but animals will usually go back to where they peed before if there is a single smidgeny trace of smell from where he peed before. There are some really good odor out products available to get it out of your bedding, but you need skunk out or something to get it out of your mattress, too. Good luck. You could be in for a battle you may not win.

I have a 9 year old male neutered cat who only has accidents when he has a urinary tract infection which is very common in male neutered cats. He has gone into kidney failure twice because of it, but when he gets one, he jumps on my lap and wets on ME!!!! What an attention getter! I would take him to the vet and have him checked.
