Here's the deal. Me and my husband have been married for almost a year and we are both in the army. A few weeks after we were married we put in our Married Army Couples Packet and were told it should be in the system in a month. Now, almost a year later we both come down on orders (me going back to Korea for my second tour, my husband going to Fort Reily). I have called our branch manager and she has told me that it didnt show us as being married in the system. She also said that we were both on Priority Assignments and it would be hard to change unless I reenlist. (Which I do not want to do). My question is, Is there anyone out there that has had this problem also or anyone know what me and my husband can do to fix this issue. Please, only serious answers. Im really worried. Thanks

problem is, Co location is NEVER guaranteed. If , when you out in the packet, your profiles weren't linked in the system, they had no way of knowing.

Ultimately, Needs of the Army take precedence.

Your only good option is to go to the JAG office and ask them to investigate why the information was not posted in a timely manner. They may be able to get the change put in where the normal system would not.

They also are just as responsible for advising and defending you as to your rights under the UCOMJ as they are of protecting the governments rights.

I would request that you both see your S-1 right away. My husband and I were in a situation where he got orders and I didn't. We got his orders deferred for 3 months while we waited for my orders to be cut. They didn't have our MAC paperwork either. Luckily for us we were in the same battalion at the time and had to deal with the same S-1.
Branch managers don't really give a crap in these situations. If S-1 doesn't seem to help I would request help from JAG.

Sorry to break it too you, but you will likely just have to deal with it. It is unfortunate your concurrent military status has not been properly accounted for, however, either of you could be sent on an unaccompanied tour (like Korea) without the other regardless of your status in the system.

How much longer do you have on your enlistment? You could reenlist for as little as two years (starting today, so its not a full two years extra) with station of choice to match your husband.

Hope this helps.

first of all you should have been following up with the whole packet and ensured it was on the system. never never never do anything with personnel if you dont have the follow up skills to go with it. now the damage is done. start with chain of command and go higher as the situation requires.
but even you command is going to ask you why you didnt follow up with your packet and prevented the problem before it existed.

Request Mast and properly utilize the chain of command. Also visit Base legal center or what they call it in the Army

Make sure the Commander knows, lowest level, and stay on top of the personnel people and keep the Commander involved. They have an obligation, and it's the unit command's responsibility to get it right.

You can deny your orders...basically let them know you dont want to go.......but this means that you are not going to re-enlist....
