Yeah, that hair is usually curlier and dryer (more prone to breakage) and seems to suffer from more damage from dryers and irons and chemicals (it's MUCH more difficult to wash chemicals from the nape of the neck, particularly relaxers and color)

Sure. Some people have what's like a "tail" at the back of their neck. You can see it on some men who don't have a straight hairline at the nape of their neck. Instead they have hair which grows down into a point - hence the "tail". Nothing to worry about.

yup. Comes from too many ponytails. Try not to brush your hair too much around the crown of your head and you will not have that much breakage. Also, try to sleep on a satin pillowcase. That helps too.

Yes, mine is. I think for a lot of people it's like that. Mine is starting to grow though. When I get a perm, it gets longer.
