Do you mean Canon 350D? Probably. Get the Nikon anyhow. I own a D70s and it's a great camera. It has some "upscale" features that the 350D doesn't - mostly a spot meter. I don't like the fact that the Canon lacks a spot meter. They have a "large" central spot that covers 10% of the frame. A real spot meter zeroes in on 2-3% of the frame. This can really make the difference between getting an accurate exposure and getting lucky.
Here are some D70s samples:

Interesting responses here.
I have two Nikon D70 cameras and love them both. The feel, the quality, the controls are fantastic. The results are equally so.

The Nikon F-mount give you a longer list of compatible lenses, as Canon changed mounts when it moved from the FD to the EF lenses.
Read this survey and see what others think about the two systems.

Here are some shots I took with my D70 and at 300mm, ISO 1600.

I happen to prefer the Nikon and bought it partially because I already had a bunch of Nikon AF lenses that were compatible (used them with other Nikons I have) and partially because I like the speed of the exposures and the excellent matrix focusing.
However people I know who have the Canon swear by that one. I don't think you can go wrong with either one even though I have a strong preference.
