the egg. the chicken didnt just poof from no where. if you go for the evolution thing, then something laid an egg that the first chicken came out of, if your into the god thing, he would have had to make an egg for it to come out of.

the chicken came first, the chicken evolved... (from whatever chickens evolved from) then laid an egg, an egg cant evolve from something its a single cell. its like asking what came first man or a sperm or what came first woman or an ovarie. btw if the egg came first what fertilized it?
