I would take your cats paw and make it scoop like you would do if it were a kitten. That should help after a couple times. Change litters if that doesnt help. ;)

My female cat did the same thing. I think she was trying to stay as clean as possible by standing on the edge. They always scratch at the floor trying to cover it up ... they are just strange like that sometimes. It's annoying and endearing.
If you don't scoop the litter daily and switch it out weekly your cat may think it is dirty and want to keep her distance. This may be why she is standing on the edge.
You may want to pick up one of the really deep litter boxes. I use them now and my cats do great with them. They even have a lid with a hole in the top to keep everything inside. PetSmart or PetCo has the pans. This should solve the problem.
As far as doing that motion with their food ... I've read that they actually think they are covering it up and saving it for later ... not that they don't like it.
Have fun and give kitty a pat on the head for me!

You did not say how old your cat was but I will assume that its not a baby. The only thing I can say is that she doesn't like the litter, try Tidy Cats or Fresh Step. Or try getting a litter pan with a hood/ cover this will help from it getting on the wall, Cats like their privacy when they use the box. also boys tend to pee up high and girls will squat so if you have a boy, the hood/cover will help. Good luck!

We have a 9 year old cat that has never in her life covered what she does in the litter box. It's annoying, but it's not like you can really train them. We just try to cover it or scoop it out. At least she does go in the litter box and not elsewhere in the house.

Some cats just don't; it isn't a matter of training or protest or anything of the like. Sometimes they just weren't trained to do so by their mothers.
You can try another litter, but it may very well be wasted effort, as nobody truly understands why cats do or don't do the things they do and don't, and they're not terrifically trainable, and often resent your tryiing. Just provide a relatively indestructible surround for the litter box, and relax.

I'd try one of those automatic litter boxes that scoops it right away for you--that way it's not sitting there. Don't worry too much about why your cat's not covering it up on her own, so long as she's USING the litter box! It sounds like she's just missing the mark for where she's "covering" it up... she still is trying, it's just that she's too far over.

It depends on the cat's personality and behavior. If you just domesticated this cat, It might take her awhile to get used to using the sandbox. At least she's not using the bed sheets to go on, or any clothes that you may have left on the floor...
Personally I have a stray cat that's not used to being around humans who just goes where ever he Is, hoping to get that fixed soon, so consider yourself lucky...

Sometimes caly litter gets stuck in their paws and it hurts so they will stop digger/covering their litter. I would change litter b/c if this is the case, she will eventually stop using the litterbox all together! good Luck!

Most of the time, cats who dont cover their poo are showing their dominance. She is the queen, therfore she doesnt need to cover it.
