I'm feeling overwhelming depression right now and I can't cope. I had an appointment with a psychiatrist a month ago and they gave me a prescription for anti-depressants, but after I researched the drug, I decided not to take it. I have another appointment in two weeks, at which point I was going to request a prescription for a different drug. The problem is I don't think I can wait that long. I'm feeling overwhelmed by the depression, so would it be inappopriate to go to a hospital and ask if they can give me something now?

It's not appropriate if there are no Christians there to help you and if the hospital doesn't have medication that can provide any help.

Without God's love, you will always crave more and more and never be content.

Without a friend that gives you an honest answer when you want one, who gives you one out of love, you will always feel some misery. And if you only have friends that flatter you, you may be depressed knowing that they are doing so because they want to take advantage of you in some way rather than truly loving you, or loving you with a pure love, love which isn't self-seeking.

Also, you may have a poor diet which is causing a chemical imbalance or making you depressed due to its blandness, have past trauma that is still bothering you because you don't know how to deal with it or because it was very painful, are encountering unpleasant smells often (like perhaps from a new rug which smells bad), have bland surroundings (you may want to decorate your walls with posters), have unpleasant parents, don't have friends or ones that give you bad to no advice when you ask for the help or when it's obvious you need it, you may have a boring getting-no-where life, or you may feel as if you're not getting your way in general (which frustrates everyone who feels that way).

I had problems with depression and suicide due to my parents neglecting my education, including knowledge about right from wrong, and not having much interesting or helpful to do. I also got bullied at school for how I was dressed and appeared before I was 14 and of course, instead of the bullies being punished I was the one who got stuck in a miserable substitute for a "normal" public high school and had next to no friends while there (and still have about none). Soon after attending that school I was bullied by the police off an on a few times. Other miserable things happened including being repeatedly kicked out and being mistreated at nearly all the jobs I had by coworkers or bosses who harassed me out of them. But, God saved me and helped me beat my depression and allowed and helped me to accomplish some great things that I can take comfort in having accomplished no matter how miserable. I'm still depressed sometimes, but it's not as bad now since he's opened my eyes.

you will regret taking the drugs!

take a cold shower every morning. that will help you immensely.
eat healthier.
watch the sun a bit in the morning.
drink green tea.
stop eating and drinking sugar.
watch birds, or watch wind through trees.
stop listening to music.
i medically perscribe these treatments to you under the guarantee that they will help you faster and more efficiently than anything else.

people become suicidal when they're happy, not when they're depressed. it's because they were recently depressed, and they realize that they're going to be depressed again. so they decide to end the cycle when they can think for themselves.

drugs will not help, i can tell you that for a fact.
they can only postpone the inevitable, which will feel worse when it finally comes. also, the anti-depression drugs psychiatrists give out are horrifying. utterly horrifying. some symproms include schitzophrenia-like hallucinations and anger issues, often leading to suicide, sometimes leading to school shootings.
i can guarantee that after you get on drugs, you will not feel human again for a long time, if ever.

the hospital ER is able to help. if you're feeling horrible, you should visit them. don't let them perscribe drugs to you, but they have some drugs that you can take once that will relax you. they should also be able to give you more detailed environmental advice. if they don't, they don't know anything about depression.

don't trust your psychiatrist. at all.
psychologists are trustworthy. psychiatrists are a scam.

Why did you decide not to take the prescription prescribed to you? It may have helped.

If you look at the research on most of those drugs, you'll probably never take anything.

It took me years to find the right anti-depressant that helped me... so be pro-active about your health and call your doctor back. Tell them how you're feeling. You need to be honest.

If you aren't suicidal, I'm not sure if the hospital will take you... I suppose if you are insured well they may. Call and talk with someone --- maybe you could call the ER and talk with a nurse.

Luck to you.

They are gonna send you to a psychiatric hospital, and put you on a suicide watch. You should re-consider taking the pills that you have. All pills have horrible side effects, so the next one you get won't be any better. You take it easy and try to relax, but if you can't then YES, go to the hospital but please don't hurt yourself. Is there anyone you can call to be with you right now? Try that too. Watch a little TV or do something to help get your mind off of things.

Well since you have decided based on your research to not take it what makes you think the hospital will prescribe some thing that will pass your inspection? It sounds like you are your own worst enemy and that is really depressing.

If your insurance covers the ER visit, go for it! Don't feel bad for being less than suicidal.

Good luck finding the right medication, it can take time.

A hospital might not be able to give you anything without a diagnosis. Please call a friend or family member and see if they can help you.
