Remember Coast Guard is part of the Dept of Transportation, no?

Actually the Salvation Coast Guard would be appropriate. The Coast Guard falls under the Department of Homeland Security (and not the Department of Defense), but Title 14 of the US Code states that "the Coast Guard...is part of the military at all times," and in times of war, control of the Coast Guard passes to the US Navy.

Anyhow, I think the Salvation Army people ought to expand. And do they have a guard and reserves program? They're really missing out.

There is also an "Army of God" that seems to get in to trouble with the law every now and again. I wonder if we'll see the Jehovah's Witness Marine Corps?

I really don't know.. I didn't even think of the salvation army stores being associated with the army, I just took it as an expression of them being an Army of Salvation....

I don't know if you've ever met any Salvation Army Rangers, but they're some of the toughest SOBs around.
