The last time I asked this, it was 6am and got two answers (both spam) so I am asking it again...

I don't think that most individuals that now call themselves "former atheists - now Christians" were ever, in fact, atheists.

Why? Because I think it's more likely they call themselves that because they were actually either anti-theists (that is, they held a grudge against their church or religion in general for some unknown reason) or they call themselves former atheists for some ulterior motive (for example, to get sympathy from current atheists or perhaps because they think, by saying so, that they gain some credibility with the atheist and religious communities. But I don't buy it.

So, I propose a test, to see if they ever really were atheists. It consists of four questions, which the vast majority of atheists would say "yes" to... If they agree with all four, then I would concede they really were atheists.

the God test
the Jesus test
the Bible test
the Blasphamy test

The God test: Did you believe that there is no God?

The Jesus test: Did you believe that Jesus, if He existed, was neither God or the son of God.

The Bible test: Did you believe that the Bible was written by men and was not the inspired word of God.

The Blasphamy test: Would you have been willing to say something blasphamous because there is no such thing as sin, and you will not go to Hell for doing so (because Hell is an imaginary place)

Go ahead take the test and see if you were ever an atheist...

I've yet to find one that was saying they were an atheist out loud, let alone all four of those.

The answer is really quite simple, and both startling at the same time! Modern Christianity, as is Islam, and Judaism, are religions, MAN MADE AND LUCIFER MADE RELIGIONS, whereas the Faith of God's Elect [eklektos] is the genuine article, and herein is the confusion. You are bewildered by the lack of a sound answer, and justly so, for these, still ungenerated, men have not the answers to your questions...
The Real Faith of the New Testament, is not to be confused with modern liberal Christianity, which is closer to witchcraft, than to the Real Gospel!
The mystery of Faith is to be found in the parable that Jesus told, of how the Kingdom of Heaven is to be likened unto a man who sowed good seed in His field, and then an enemy came and sowed tares among the good seed, and then went his way.
The man who sowed good seed is the Ancient of Days, and the enemy is Satan, who set about immediately trying to thwart the true faith, and God's elect people. Satan created modern liberal Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and every other figment of fallen man's mind, aka a belief or faith.
Real Faith is REVEALED, and belongs to Abraham's Seed, whereas the Luciferian gospel is about "WHO WANTS TO GET SAVED, hence the confusion. With the real Gospel, the Lord is in charge, but in the false gospel, Satan and fallen man is!

IT ALL COMES DOWN TO REVELATION!

Atheists believe there is no God and live their lives accordingly.

As I suspected and maintain however, is that Atheism is a "religion"...especially considering the tenets of faith you just listed. Are you a priest of Atheism?

You base your illogic upon the supposition that God doesn't exist, yet you cannot prove it nor can you save your own life. All people will die, and the only thing Atheists have to look forward to according to their "ideology" is nothing. Your entire existence according to Atheism is an accident providing a meager moment in time to live....a meaningless tease, and thereby anything you do with that time is for selfish gain. There is no good or evil for you...only perception. There is no right or wrong because there is no ultimate consequence for committing evil.

Atheism is the most ridiculous religious faith propagated upon the self ascribed "intellectually enlightened class."

Atheist existence is without purpose, and without reward, and without soul. There is nothing you do that will be remembered for long, and nothing you earn or experience will make one iota of difference if your brain is all you are, and it just rots and decomposes when you die...all you worked for will be dust...all you owned will then belong to someone else who will most likely run it into the ground or sell it off for cash.

They cannot explain Love, sacrifice, compassion, the spiritual...the supernatural/paranormal (which they deny anyway)...they cannot even agree upon creation, because their beliefs, like their science is continuously "evolving," as each former theory is discredited.

Former Atheists, who are now Christians are blessed, because they saw the flaws with their illogical faith in randomness, science and man as the lie it was. They see the truth in Scripture and they believe God. They were pulled from the fire because God loves all of us...you just as much as me. They understood this and accepted the gift of pardon from their sins, and forgiveness and eternal life that Christ gives all who put their faith in Him.

God Bless them all!
I pray you come to learn the truth as well, and one day call yourself an ex-atheist, Christian.

Take Care and God Bless you.

It would be interesting to know, but without specifying the tests, it's rather hard to evaluate whether it was a good indicator or not. Personally I'd add whether they were raise in a strong religious background or not and potentially age.

Edit:
Good questions, but all of us blaspheme at one time or another and there is no way to catch "stretching of the truth".

The former atheists apparently don't feel they need a "test", since they now belong to Jesus, dear one.

Praise the Lord!

Dang. I never realized that while I was mad at God I was an atheist.

Scary.

Well, obviously, if they can't pass these simple tests, they weren't "true Atheists", right?
I guess Atheism IS a religion, after all...

Atheos help us!!

Oh I don't care if they say they were atheists. What bothers me is when they arrogantly say "I was once just like you" when they could never be like me anymore than I could be like them.
