The main one is COMPLETE CONTROL! you can use whatever you like and make it to your taste not some "majority" If you have food sensitivities it is super better to cook your own foods and it is way cheaper even if you buy high end ingredients like lobster and fillet since prepared in a restaurant these will cost you upwards from $50 a plate and at home you can feed 4 people steak and lobster with a salad and wine for that!

You control what goes into your food, and usually if made from scratch you can pronouce the ingredients. You have the say over the amounts of: fats, salts, sugar, spices, etc. You also can make it to your taste. It is normally cheaper and fresher when made from scratch. You don't have to worry about germs (unless you are at fault), Overall it is much healthier to make your own whenever possible.
One other big BENEFIT is knowing that YOU MADE IT, so personal satisfaction would be the kicker.

You stay away from all the additives and preservatives. I've always disliked canned foods ever since I was a child. I always told my parents they tasted funny, looking back they tasted like chemicals. Plus you control the amount of salt....and you don't have to worry about botulism. Plus if you ever watched any specials about this kind of thing you'd learn that the FDA has "standards" for how many things like rat feces and bug parts and other nastiness that can go into these products "safely". I don't know about you but I like knowing what's going in to my food : )

It's cheaper, it's healthier (because you know exactly what has gone into your meal), it's more rewarding for the cook and it tastes better.

Plus, cooking from scratch demonstrates that the cook has real love and affection for the person eating it. Using processed foods implies that you cared about them just enough to stop them from starving.

You control what goes in and you don't get a lot of stuff who's name you can't even pronounce.

Cheaper.
You control what kind of fat goes in, and how much salt.
