Why would lying to a minister be any different than lying to anyone else? I don't often lie to anyone but it wouldn't make a difference who it was.

Actually, as a former Catholic, I can't think of one moment that I actually lied to a minister or priest. But I can think of several when a person of religious authority lied to me.

Edit: Here's an example: In the "sex ed" course at my Catholic school, the parents who came in to lecture the class said that sexual diseases did not exist before the 1960s, when people became sexually promiscuous. They never mentioned contraception.

In another example, the principle of my school said that after Jesus healed the lepers, there was no such thing as leprosy after that. Guess what? Leprosy still exists.

My best friend was also raped by one of my school instructors, and lectured our class about the importance of sexual abstinence. He was also staring at my chest as he said it...another sign of hypocrisy, I guess. Aside from that, they were decent people, only they could not get every fact straight. At least their school taught evolution.

if one lies to their minister-is it not the same as lying to God-since he already knows what were going to say before we do.If one has to lie to the minister-than they must spend alot of time lying to themselves.

I think the last time I lied to my minister I said something like, "Enjoyed your sermon today!"

I received the Sacrament of Reconciliation in second grade, and was very nervous when I was expected to say things I did wrong. I thought the priest would get angry, or laugh.....(which he didn't).
I made up my sins each time to avoid any embarassment.

We shouldn't lie to anyone, minister or the next door bully. Why do we? Because we are human, we sin, but by the grace of god we are forgiven.
