I use PictureProject to enhance pictures taken with my Nikon D40, and they really look nice but there is no option to save them back once they are enhanced. I want pictures taken enchanced permanently. If I open my picture using Picture Manager from Windows, it is the original again, no enchance at all !!

Most windows programs have a Save As option, although I am not familiar with PictureProject. You should be able to Save or Save As after the changes. I suppose the program is a change and print only. I took a look at the Nikon promo page and it doesn't clarify the situation.

I just looked at the Nikon site to see what Picture Project is. I'm a long time Nikon user, but wasn't familiar with this program. From what I read it looks like your changes ARE saved - but in a separate file. Here's what the site had to say about this.

"One-touch picture editing
Red-eye corrections as well as brightness and color can be fixed with ease. All changes are automatically saved as a separate image. Users can always return to the original image by hitting the reset button."

If I were you, and serious about being able to enhance your images with software that's really designed to do this sort of thing, I'd consider buying Photoshop Elements.

It has been my experience that NO automatic adjustments are ever truly correct.

I have a brief tutorial on Photoshop Elements that should help. And pay particular attention to the part about Levels. there's nothing more important than that!

Picture Project looks like a fine way to sort, catalog and arrange your Nikon files, and you've certainly bought a very nice camera. But I'd give serious consideration to geting a real photo editing program.

You'll be amazed at the difference!
