Water and some sterile cloth I guess. Just boil some old sheets.
Use some disinfectant, too.

Dab it with a cotton ball soaked with hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic and it dissolves dried blood. Be aware that cleaning dried blood our of a stitched wound can increase the amount of scarring, so try to remove blood only from the edges.

Place a warm wet wash cloth over it for a few minutes then gentle wipe away dried blood, just be very careful not to snag the stitches.

Being careful doesn't mean she can't get the stitches wet, unless the doctor said not to let them get wet. If you're unsure, call and ask. Chances are, it'll be fine to dab at the area with the stitches with a clean, damp cloth. She can shampoo her hair, too, but don't scratch at the scalp, just rub gently.

Peroxide. It will be cool but will not harm him or the stictches. It will bubble. You may have to work with it a little, just be gentle around the stitches if you scrub.

Use sterile cotton balls soaked in alcohol, but it might sting. But keep it away from the eyes. water might also help. Else, just leave it.
