I would say so. I don't think a person's heart becomes more compassionate, caring and loving by simply blindly following some set of "instructions" set forth by ogre-anized religion, such as eating a wafer, being dipped into water, not eating certain foods, not saying certain words, being forced to believe certain stories, cherishing certain pieces of jewelry, repeating certain words and phrases, going to a certain place at a certain time, and hating and despising others for not doing those same things.
How does all that stuff make a person more pure-of-heart? It doesn't. Its only change within a person's heart that makes him or her a good person, or at least more caring and compassionate that what they used to be. Cherishing a piece of jewelry or speaking certain words isn't going to have any effect on that at all. But organized religion does a good job at deceiving people into thinking thats all they have to do to become worthy of whatever it is they think they have to be...following whatever rules and instructions they think they have to follow to achieve this.

Having nothing to go on but your statements, I think the person who wrote this is an atheist who has no regard for people who do believe or for the possible benefits of belief. Personally I don't find this kind of intolerance any better than dogmatic religious intolerance. I find it to be just as sanctimonious and equally debatable.

Organized Religion is the "Big Brother" of fundamentalism, fascistic religious ideas, fanaticism, religious brainwashing.

edit: Free thinking and belief is the Mother or "Big Brother" of the inner self/soul.

Considering the amount of doublethink and thoughtcrime involved, not to mention the Thought Police and the Junior Anti-Sex League.... yes, Orwell would be proud of you.
