Vista is not open source , however if you want an alternative that is free try Ubuntu 7.10
With a little patience you can achieve results on par if not above than you can on Vista.

nothing in life is free , if for any reason you get it free in the future you'll pay for it, ...., bad system, bad Karma,lost of time fixing your computer,police in your door,free vista with virus,...... so the best is to buy it , the Vista basic is around £60.
