The 80GB PS3 price dropped just recently to $499.99 and the 40GB PS3 will sell for $399.99 when it comes out Nov. 2
The 60GB PS3 is still avaliable also and is being sold for $499.99 also. I don't know why it's the same price as the 80GB PS3 though.
The price on the 60GB PS3 may drop a few bucks in a few weeks because the 60GB PS3's are not being produced anymore, and really the 60GB PS3 is the best version because it has the best backwards compatibility. The 40GB PS3 wont be backward compatible with PS1and PS2 games, but it will have WiFi.
The 80GB PS3 has backward compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games, but it just can't play as many of them.

The 80gb PS3 just dropped $160 to $499
In Canada Best buy sells the 60gb for $449
With only a $50 dollar difference the 80gb is an obvious choice , it also comes with Motor Storm. The 80gb is not guaranteed to play all PS1-PS2 games but that is what the PS2 is for.
The drawback of the 20gb is that has no wireless internet which is one of my favourite features of the PS3

i highly recommend the playstation 3 . sure you are paying over 600 bucks for it , but you are paying for a gaming console and a blue ray disk player. so you are getting double the features for a price of one. the playstation 3 can play bothe the PS2 and PS1 games . the xbox360 is alright if you arent going to be using the blu ray disk player. but even if you wanted to , there is a seperate unit that you can purchase for the 360 that plays blu ray. as far as the games go , halo is probably the only game that sets the xbox and PS3 apart . as for the PS3 , GTA IV will be coming out for it but not for the 360. both consoles are equal as far as performance. the xbox is a little slimmer and lighter compared to the big bulky playstation 3 . like i said, i would personally get the playstation 3 because i have one and i love it . it is well worth the 600 dollars you spend on it . but it all depends on you and what you like . i hope this helps a little bit
