To have a bible in your room? My friend told me once that her mother said not to keep a bible in her room... so is it a bad thing or not...? If so why and how?

Yes it is a strange thing to not have a bible in ur room, isnt a bible suppose to b a good thing...??I dont understand y her mother told her that...

Perhaps her mother thinks that having or owning a bible is strange, but you have to be your own person. You have your own beliefs and your friend has a right to share theirs, but it is your choice and when they are in your room they need to respect the things you have there that you hold dear.
Maybe this is an opportunity for you to witness to this friend about God.

Not as long as you are not committing fornication or adultery in that room over that bible. No, just kidding. But don't. Of course not. You can have a bible in any room of your house. Some people!!

I have several in my room. One in Greek, one in Latin and two or three in English.
I also have numerous other books: "The Origin of Species," "The Bible Unearthed," "Why God Won't Go Away,' and "The Encyclopedia of Baseball," to name a few.

It is not bad to have a Bible in your room! Where did that belief come from?
Edit to Anonymous: The pastor said that because he meant that the Bible is not to be worshiped, but God/Jesus is!

Absolutely not. If you want to keep a Bible on hand, that is your decision and if someone doesn't respect your beliefs that is their problem. Stay true to your faith and don't worry about what other people think.

remember the bible is just a book written by man with stories and fables in it. would it be bad to have a book written by poe in your room. it is your room put what you wish in it.
