I live in the pacific nw. I went hog hunting today and found no hogs. But while scouting around prior to departing I found this spot where you could tell and animal was bedded down for the night. There were many game trials leading in and out of the area. There were droppings along the trail but they were small like marbles and there was what looked like ground up apples, as if the were eaten then vomited but there were a few large piles. Did not notice any scratch or rub marks or prints. So if i were to set up in the what do you think I would find a hog, elk, deer, bear. The only animals that I did see were a pair wolves whom stumbled upon me but they ran off. What animal den did I find?

depending on the size of the scat, it was either deer or elk. If it was a bear, the scat would have been in piles and would have contained seeds etc. Did you check the trails for tracks??
Good luck Hunting!!!

It could possible be a deer, if the droppings were like small pebbles it most likely was, because deer will just demolish apples so its prolly a mule, or whitetail deer.

Could be a badger. I know there were no scratch marks, but the den could have been made by another animal.

Most likely a blacktail deer. This time of year they are gorging themselves on fallen apples and sometimes they overdo it.
