People argue when they are unsure of their position. Those who are certain see not point in arguing.

On the surface it might look like everyone is arguing over nothing, but in most cases it goes deeper, people aren't necessarily just trying to prove or disprove god, in a lot of cases people are trying to impose their beliefs or show how shallow other people's beliefs are.
Until recently every major country was dominated by a religion, and now that we are finally free of that, some people see it as their duty to keep it that way.

That would be fine with me, if the fundamentalists did the following:
1. Stop forcing religious laws into secular governments.
2. Do not threaten non-Christians with hellfire or proselytize on the street
3. Do not blow up innocent civilians with suicide vests (applies to radical Islam)
4. Stop Shariah law and it's oppression of human liberties (applies to radical Islam)
5. Repeal the laws in seven U.S. states that prevent atheists running for political office
6. Stop fighting scientific theories that are based on evidence (such as the Big Bang or evolution), due to religious objections.
7. Stop making the religious right into a political platform. This is a country for everyone.
Until then, I intend to defend my freedom not to believe in a religion or follow religious laws -- America is a free country, and I don't want it sacrificed to one religion's preferences.
I think Thomas Jefferson would have agreed:
"The priest is the enemy of liberty."

I do not argue to argue; I am commanded by God to speak the truth about Him: He is. He always was. He always will be.
So for the so-called-"Atheist" among us, we, the believers grieve because we KNOW that they also know (or knew) and rejected the truth about God. If that were not a true statement, then God would not be just in casting them into hell if their rejection continues until their lives on this earth end. (Prior to that time, there is hope for salvation for all mankind.)
Romans 1"20-21 puts it this way, "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened."
And we, the faithful, are commanded to preach the truth in love, regardless of the cost:
Matt 28:18-20 "Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Luke 9:4-5 “Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”

But here on earth we need a reason for our beginning. We all want to know the answers to everything why and how come. yes it may seem pointless to argue but through arguments, at times, comes enlightenment. And you are right if it is it is and if it isn't then it isn't then the question will then be why not or why so.

Religion is still having a negative effect on the world.
Religious wars still going on as we speak and not to mention the effects religion is having here in America.
Science is held back due to "religious morality". Churches are tax exempt. Masses are mis-lead.
I'm sorry, I cannot accept it.

That is so true, If there is a God, which I believe that there is, then He has been here since before we have, and will be around forever. But if God is true then the bible is true too- and if the bible is true then those who reject God will go to hell. It says in the bible that God doesn't want that to happen, in fact it says that He sent His son to die on earth so that Mankind will be clean of their sins, and that those who receive that freedom from their sins will go to heaven. I don't want anyone to go to hell! that is why I tell others about God.

Wow, great question. People are just stubborn and feel the need to get everyone to agree with them. Do not ask me why, because I think it is riduculous as well.

This is one of those "easier said than done" instances.
Besides, when has humanity every stopped arguing about something?
