Can I make chocolate ganache with low fat milk (2%) or liquid coffee creamer?

My sister-in-law and her family are coming over tonight after dinner out at a restaurant and might want something sweet to eat at my house. I'd like to make a fondue but don't have any heavy cream. I also have coffee mate in the refrigerator (vanilla flavored), can I use that?

You really shouldn't but if you are in a pinch, use the milk and add a knob of butter ( butter not marg) to add a little more richness to the fondue, also add a couple of teaspoons of booze to give it a kick. Please do not use the coffee mate, it has never seen a cow, all chemicals. Good luck

You can use the low-fat milk, but your end result won't be as thick as you want. I would use the coffee mate instead.

I've used the liquid hazelnut coffee mate in puddings and creams and it is really great.
