I believe the investigation was a whitewash, just as the Warren Commission was a sanitized version of JFK's assassination. Whether the U.S.A. knew about - or participated in - the events of 9-11 still remains unclear. There is sufficient credible evidence to suggest that the U.S. was involved. Of course, there are the 'patriots' who cry "heresy" whenever someone suggests that our government might have lied to us. For those 'patriots', I might respectfully suggest that they consider how many times our government has lied to us in the past:
* Speculation still abounds that FDR knew about Pearl Harbor, but allowed U.S. soldiers to be killed as a means of directly leading us into World War II;
* Our government has never satisfactorily explained the circumstances surrounding the events in Roswell, NM in 1947, especially to those who lived there are witnessed it;
* The Warren Commission isn't believed by a preponderance of American citizens, yet the documents are sealed for 75 years - until 2038 - when most of us who lived through JFK's assassination won't be around to challenge anything;
* Our government lied about U-2 spy planes being flown over the U.S.S.R. until Khrushchev shot one down and displayed it for all the world to see;
* Our military lied about U.S. battleships being 'attacked' in the Gulf of Tonkin, which led us directly into the Vietnam War;
* Our military lied about the affects of Agent Orange of Vietnam veterans;
* The White House lied about a third-rate burglary at the Watergate Hotel until two young reporters dug out the truth and forced the resignation of a U.S. President;
* The Reagan administration lied about an illicit 'arms-for hostages' deal that became known as the Iran Contra scandal;
* The White House lied about 'weapons of mass destruction' which led us directly into an unconstitutional, illegal, immoral, unjustified 'war' against another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States;
* The military lied about the torture and sexual abuse of 'detainees' - in direct violation of the rules of the Geneva Convention - until a brave whistle blower posted photos on the Internet for all the world to see.
As Americans we have a Constitutional right - and an obligation - to be skeptical about what our government tells us; to hold it feet to the fire and demand the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth; to punish those in government who lie to us; and to remain ever vigilant about everything we're told. If we don't, we will one day wake up to find ourselves living under a totalitarian regime.
Adolph Hitler once said: "How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think."
Those who blindly believe everything their government tells them are destined to become slaves to dictatorship and an Orwellian culture complete with Thought Police. Following like sheep is a dangerous precedent.
Languishing like lobsters in a pot of lukewarm water will only result in our one day screaming in agony over our own apathy when the water starts boiling over. -RKO- 10/20/07

We really didn't have a chance to stop 9-11
Yes it’s true that there were warnings about al Qaeda. But these were mixed in with warnings about Hamas, Timmy McVeigh types, anti-government skin-heads, etc. The trouble is that every month the CIA gets thousands upon thousands of warnings & it has to sort them all out.
How do you know, before the fact, which threats and real and which are false leads? Almost no one in the world truly foresaw the unprecedented hijackings of 9/11. It’s so obvious after the fact, but in truth, it was impossible to predict.
It retrospect, anyone can appear to be a genius. Yes, looking back, and picking through the hundred-thousand warnings that came in over several years, you can find a warning about al-Qaeda. This is not good enough to prove that a mistake was made and especially that Bush “knew it” and “ignored it.” That would have required ESP.
I haven't seen any evidence that the al-Qaeda data was, before the fact, sufficient to stand out above all the other warnings.

To the biggest possible extend, this book examined why and how did 9/11 happen. Many questions still left unexplained.

We certainly knew that Osama bin Laden tried to blow up the WTC in 1993 and there were opportunities to capture bin Laden
which were largely ignored. Osama himself stated that he thought the towers would come down and he was not very happy that they didn't.
The link below points out how the government ignored OSB as told by a former CIA officer in charge of watching Al Qeada

I don't believe in the XFiles, why should I care about all the conspiracy theories about 9/11. Like what was said, we get tons of intelligence. But how can you know what is true or what is false? I believe that this was not a government cover up or anything Bush did or did not do. It was just a terrible crime committed against America.

Hindsight is always 20/20. It's easy to look at incidents now and see how they led up to a final catastrophic event. It would have been a lot harder for the folks before the attack, only seeing bits and pieces with no ability to forsee the final outcome.

I say you listen to your own intelligence...and don't ask any of these people anything! The American People know what is real! Trust your gut...You would not be asking if you didn't feel something wasn't quite right!
