I'm aware that we are all different and deal with thngs differently, but personally, i wouldnt appreciate anyone seeing someone i was dating and i could never date anyone that was dating a friend/family member of mine. It would feel totally wrong and immoral to do so. Not to mention that everytime there is a social gathering there is this permanent reminder that there was a history. I couldnt face ex partner or my friend if that were to happen and i really cant understand how people could do it and feel no way about it.

It is an unwritten rule, "You do not date your friend's exes. EVER!!!"

Just because you break up with someone does not mean you still don't have some feelings for them. And when you confide those feelings, whether they be positive or negative, to your best friend and they turn around and date that person, it feels like a betrayal.

Now you know why they are upset. What are you going to do about it?

If they were going out for a little while and both realised its not really going to work because there's no spark/connection, then I dont see the problem. But if they've been inlove and been together awhile I can understand it being painful.
How would you feel if the shoe was on the other foot??

Probably because the him/her isn't over the him/her. Also, it's a lack of respect for the person who gets left alone. If you are going to start up a relationship again, you should ask if it is okay or just wait a little bit.

Thats my 2 cents...

People think they own others and its weird I agree with you. I think theyre afraid the ex will reveal secrets about them.
No one has the right to tell anyone they cant date an ex. This attitude of ownership is just plain childish, immature, and selfish.

MAYBE it's because they thought that you guys were FRIENDS. And friends dont stab others in the back like that unless they are desperate little fuggly loozers that cant get their own man.

That would never happen to me or one of my friends because we value our friendships over d ick.... something you obviously know NADA about.... grow up Hailey .. until then you wont get it.. so stop trying... ciao

It's just one of those unwritten social rules. Don't date your friend's ex boyfriend! I think that most girls would be hurt by that because there are residual feelings left.

because your supposed to be her/his best friend or friend o.k people get emotional becasue if they broke up and they still like the person your dating then it could ruin your friendship with the other person.

so is it the boyfriend or girlfriend or your friend.
