If your TV is a widescreen TV, then there is a chance it is an HDTV (or HDTV capable). If it has an HDMI input, then this is another sign that your TV has HD capabilities.

Basically, to be an HDTV, your TV must be able to display about twice as many lines as an older TV, it will probably be widescreen, and it needs to have a special HDTV tuner to get HDTV channels with an antenna. There are HDTV Ready TVs that don't have tuners, but have HDMI inputs that you can hook up a cable or satellite box to to get an HD signal.

On top of all of this, HDTV's usually have a label on them somewhere showing off how they're HDTV, so my guess is that you don't have an HD set.

On the back, you will find its model number.
Check the web site of the manufacturer for the specs.

If it can display at least 720 lines, then it is an HDTV.
