Minolta's assets were purchased by Sony. Sony's digital SLRs use the Minolta autofocus mount, so if you have Minolta autofocus lenses, the Sony Alpha 100 will work.

The latest Sony is the Alpha 700. It is 12mp to the Alpha 100's 10mp.

For a serious amateur, the Sony Alpha is certainly a fine camera, and really, the only choice if you have Minolta lenses.
