Just as some juvies are tried as adults for heinous crimes, anyone who pulls something like that should be tried as a juvenile.
What an absolutely asinine act!

In some states/cities, you could be arrested for performing a lewd gesture in public. If the police officer perceived your action as hostile, they could also add assault on a police officer to the charges. If you stood in their path, they might also add interfering with an officer in the performance of his/her duties. So, no, I wouldn't consider flipping off an officer a particularly wise thing to do.

A friend of mine dropped the f-bomb on a cop and was arrested, which I think is a violation of the 1st amendment.

Say that you are threatening him. Harrass you and make your life miserable. Say that he is sure that you are holding drugs and search you. Even though you might really dislike this cop, its best to just avoid him. The police always come out on top in a dispute.

I don't think that it would be a really good thing to do, doesn't show a lot of respect. It might get a person into some thing deep that they don't want to be in. lol
