5 megapixel is okay...

The higher the better reason being the picture is more great in color and appearance. Im sure youve seen pictures that look okay and dull and pictures that look like the people are actually sitting in the photo.

I suggest anything above 7 MP will give you really good results although 5 is not bad at all.

For $120, you can find a good deal with a better MP if you really look. I suggest going online to purchase because alot of camera are always on sale for, especially the good ones. They also come with recording devices as well. Be careful, some record with no sound!!!!

I love Sony and Kodak cameras....It just depends what you really want in a camera: style, weight, applications, etc..

Goodluck.. go to your local electronic stores and do some looking around...Circuity City, Walmart, Best Buy, Comp USA, Target, RadioShack, etc...

This is a good time of year for camera deals. 5mp is plenty. My suggestion is to go to www.dpreview and read their tests and reviews of any models you are interested in. I would stay with one of the top brands, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Fuji or perhaps a Kodak. Sometimes you can get a deal with a bigger memory card. when the big box stores put them on sale.

BTW, ignore digital zoom claims. Optical zoom is fine. Digital zoom is a farce, and only degrades image quality. If your camera has digital zoom, disable it. And READ your camera manual. There are things about white balance and resolution that you will need to know.

more megapixels=better pic..is really a sellers way to get you to buy higher priced cams. 5mp is fine..7mp is fine..more than that is only needed if your printing garage door size pics! i have a 6mp rebel and a 8mp 30D and i can print 24x36 just fine.

this is the time of year many new models are coming out for xmas..remember the model changes usually are just cosmetic, like a knob or button moved. so they are closing out the older models.digital zoom is a no no! get 6x optical if possible.
