Are there any Christians who are like me and don't believe everything the bible stands for?

For example the disbelievers and liars bit right here:

No. As a true Christian, I believe that slavery and killing all infidels (non-Christians) should be completely okay just like the Bible says. You must follow the entire Bible (like I do), word for word, in order to be a true Christian. Those who don't will burn in Hell.

How strange? One of the few places that the bible clearly says what God will totally condemn and you take issue with it. Therefore one can only conclude that you find yourself amongst the categories cited in your reference.

Unless you truly repent, then the answer is no, you will not be considered by God as a true Christian. I dont believe all that the bible says either. On the other hand when its spelt out in detail , like the reference you cite, then I take notice.

Unfortunately for most of them, there are very few Chistians who do not actually lie from time to time. Apparently most do not respect the guidlines either, but they think that their other good works excuse them. That is not the case. When a line is drawn, you should not cross it in anyway.

This is another excellent question. To be a true Christian you have to first believe that Jesus was God's son and that He died in your place to take the punishment for your sins. If you pray this to God and ask Him to forgive your past sins of your old life and list them if you can, then you are a "True Christian". The whole bible is true but it has to be studied in context. ie when read ask yourself these questions:

1 Who is being spoke to
2 When was it spoken or when did it happen
3 Why was it said
4 What was the reason for it being said or done
5 How does it affect me or what is it saying to me in the here and now.

Too many people grab a verse of scripture and twist it to their own point of view. If someone tells you to read a verse to make their point, get into the habit of reading the 2 verses before it and after it and if you have time read the whole chapter.

This is how the cults like JWs, SDA and Mormons operate by quoting scripture completely out of context.

I don't think I have read the whole bible, have you?
Although it feels like I know it all after the number of masses I have attended.

I do not wish to offend anybody who has read it all. Truly religious people have and can quote it. To those people the word is not questionable.

Many Christians could say to you I do or don't agree with it all in my opinion and still be true Christians. I have respect for those that make a commitment to it and I hope they have respect for those that are in the process of understanding it all still.

Understanding the scriptures is a life long process. Many things are taken on faith until they are understood...so

No, I don't believe that you have to agree with everything to be Christian...but you really can't disagree just because you don't like something or it goes against what you believe is correct in this day and age.

The Scriptures are written to teach us...but if we judge all scriptures by our own morals of today...we will never...I REPEAT...never understand them.

We need to look at when they were written, why they were written, then look at our lives today and see how we can liken them into our every day lives...not the other way around.

Always remember...we need to strive to fit into Gods plans...not try and force God to fit into ours.

Yes, I think you do need to believe with what the bible says to call yourself a follower of Christ. I would suggest that, in reference to the verse you mentioned, if you don't agree with it, the problem is in you not in the message. If you ask God to tell you what it means, he will reveal it to you in a way that you CAN accept.

If you have a hard time accepting something because you don't like it, that may in fact be a sign that you need to adjust your thinking. I know I spent many years not agreeing with God's instructions regarding fornication and sexual immorality...then, quite recently, he revealed some things to me that made me realize I was wrong because of the way I interpreted the verses related to those topics.

What specifically is it that you don't agree with in the verse you referenced? Do you believe that people who do reject God or tell lies will avoid the consequences? Personally, I think the verse is absolutely true...and it is an illustration of why we all need to accept God's offer of forgiveness for all of those things. Telling a lie may not sound like much...certainly not worth of the death penalty...but if heaven is a place of total truth, how could a liar enter that place without contaminating it with lies?...the answer is, through Jesus!

I know of absolutely no "True Christians" alive in the world today. AND I'll wager that you yourself are not a true Christian, based on my definition of what a true Christian really is.
See if you agree with my definition and if you do, do you believe you fit into that category. I, as a student of ancient and comparative religions (I have a PhD in the subject), arrived at this definition only after many years of study.

Those who call themselves Christians today, practice their religion, but not the teachings of Jesus. Attending church, singing hymns, spouting scripture, wearing fine robes, and believing all that is in the bible, does not make one a true Christian.

A true Christian is one who lives every moment of his or her life, actively doing those things that Jesus did every day of his adult life. Healing the sick, comforting the dying, blessing those that curse you, forgiving those that spitefully use you, giving up all that you possess, and giving it to to those who have not. Doing all that you can every second of your life, to improve the wretched condition of those less fortunate than you.

In the entire history since Jesus walked along the shores of the sea of Galilee there have been, as far as my studies have revealed, only three people who fit my definition: Jesus himelf, Saint Francis of Assisi, and Mother Teresa.

Regardless of what today's Christans believe themselves to be, if they don't actively practice the examples of Jesus; all the Crystal Cathedrals, prayers, hymns, fine robes, and the rest of the acouterments of today's "Christians" is pompous, pretentious, costly, wasteful, usless, window dressing.

I would like to read your response to my definition, and I will answer any questions you might have. My email is: dickn2000a@yahoo.com

The Bible is the Bible _because_ real Christians believe in every moral precept it contains. Those who disagree with the Bible are not acceptable as Christians to Christians. Those who disagree are either selfish and self-destructive, or do not understand the Bible.

Wrong. One does not have to believe, in every word the bible says.
It is a text book for those who want to learn.
And says no where in the bible, that one must believe. In the bible to be a true christain.
Its whats in the heart. One hold holds on to.
