Since humans created God, obviously humans with homophobic tendencies inserted those homophobic attributes into their creation.
I suppose it makes sense if you view it archaically. In primitive times there was a much greater emphasis on reproduction because of the much higher mortality rates, so primitive societies couldn't have otherwise fertile humans choosing not to reproduce. Therefore they inserted the prohibition against homosexuality.
But nowadays, any such concern is ludicrous.

There could be several answers to this. One would be culture. The Romans disapproved of homosexuality and I don't think it had any religious basis. The second would be religion, well, at least some religions. None of the three Abramaic religions (Judaism, Christianity, or Islam) approve of homosexuality. It is censured in the sacred texts of these faiths. I know that certain schools of Buddhism consider homosexuality to be "sexual misconduct" a violation of the 5 precepts for lay people. I do not know what Hinduism, Jainism, or Sikhism say but if I had to guess I would say it is likely they don't approve either. Humanity needs to continue and it cannot do that if everyone were homosexual.
Obviously today there is a wide basis of opinion in religious communities about this issue. I think there is more tolerance now than at any time in the past. However, there is still a long way to go.
Humanity cannot "make" God anything. God IS. That's the short of it. While humanity likes to mold God to suit their ideas, He remains ever as He was from eternity. Frankly, I think God is far less concerned with what people are, than how they behave in the world.

Fallible humans superimposed their flawed belief systems onto a source of energy that is too expansive and too enigmatic for them to ever understand.
