You have to repent to be forgiven.
He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
Ok hear is an example. Say someone steals from you. You go to that person and tell them you forgive them. They tell you for what, I did not do anything wrong. They only took from you because you had something that they needed. There is no forgiveness if someone does not think they have done wrong.
So if you do not understand why you deserve to go to hell then God will not forgive you. We all deserve to go to hell. We do not deserve the mercy and grace that Jesus gives us. Do you see we have all broken God's law (10 Commandments) We deserve the wrath of God (which is Hell)

Just by asking Jesus to forgive, nothing will be there.

Repenting is important.
We have to burn our hearts in the fire of guilty.
Tears should flow outside for a long time.

Until we could not forgive ourselves Jesus is help less.

Jesus took away the things that we deserved. He abolished sin. Do not believe every thing that is said. God did a perfect work in Jesus.Jesus came to demonstrate the work of the Holy spirit. Jesus prayed long hours with and intimate relationship with God. Jesus took no credit for what God did in him. God gave him all knowledge and wisdom. He said "I do only what the Father instructed and told me to do." Paul said in Philippians chapter 3. Forgetting those things behind. He counted everything his life and pass experiences as dung. His aim was to know Christ and the one that lifted him up from the grave. The one that lifted up Christ was God's spirit. Yes we are to repent (Change the way we think)
turn from it. But the only thing that can do that for us is the spirit of God. If we judge ourselves God does not judge us.We have lots of issues and convictions. God gives us grace and mercy. So he gives us his spirit to reconcile us back to him. So we cry abba Father. He hears us when we call on him. He comes to our rescue quickly.

Requesting forgiveness is one element of repentance. This is confession of our errors. There is also remorse for what we have done. The next is to repair the damage we may have done. The last is to avoid repeating the offense. This is conversion.

it is not whether they needed it or not it did not belong to them.
also if you forgive them then it does not matter they are forgiven.
as to if you are the thief & know it is wrong to take it & do so any way, then 1 you ask forgiveness 2 don't do it again. then god knows you are sincere & you are fogiven!

To forgive is to forget.
In forgetting you have forgiven
and in that,
the gift is rememberance
of what it is, we need to remember
to be love only in every moment.
