If you are currently working as an adjuster and want to develop your skills or resume:

1. join your local claims association - this will help you make contacts in your area. You will also find out about learning or training opportunities in your area. Usually meetings are held once a month.

2. take classes - start with your General Certificate (INS). Then go onto your Associate in Claims (AIC). If your really ambitious - go for your CPCU. Here's the link: http://www.aicpcu.org/ Most insurance companies will pay for this or reimburse you once you pass the class.

3. If you write estimates - consider taking ICAR classes.
