I can't really afford the drapes that match the set and I don't want to chance trying to find burgundy drapes that will match the set. Would beige or gold look ok?

What color are the walls?
If they are white, ivory, or beige, get gold drapes.
Then add some gold throw pillows, too.
Repeat the burgundy, gold, and beige in other small accessories.
If you decide on beige drapes, add beige throw pillows.
Again, repeat the colors in small accessories.

Well without a picture I wouldn't know, because you have to take into account things like the type of material and whether it's shiny etc. I'd take your dress (or a piece of the material if you made it) and go to a material/fabric shop so you can see what will look good as a contrast. That's what I did with my dress, for a shawl thing to go over my shoulders.
