In Algeria, most people speak Arabic, but some of the older and educated will know good French. Algeria was a French department from 1865 till 1958, and sent representatives to the Chamber of Deputies in Paris.

In Argentina the language is Spanish. It is the Latin American country with the Spanish most closely following the gramatica forms and idiomatic patterns of the Castilian Spanish of Madrid.

In Tashkent, Azerbaijan you will find everyone speaking Azerbaijani, a language so closely related to Turkish that speakers of either can freely converse with speakers of the other. It is an agglutinative tongue, and not Indo-european. It is structurally related to Mongolian, Finish, Hungarian, Korean and Japanese, all of the same family. But Azerbaijan was a state in the Soviet Union for about 65 years. Stalin made everyone study Russian, and so nearly all people speak Russian in some form. Educated individuals will sometimes speak Russian more fluently than Azerbaijani, though now for nationalistic reasons, it is frowned upon. A wonderful culture and a wonderful fun-loving people. Because Stalin moved people around in groups, there are very many people of Korean descent in Tashkent. How they came into Russia is interesting history, but too much for here.
