I will not judge why some "Christians" say some very unchristian things about the Catholic Church.
However I will give some biblical proof theat Peter was the first pope.
John 21:15-17 states:
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep.
Matthew 16:17-19 states:
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.
The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.
The Pope’s main roles include teaching, sanctifying, and governing.

With love in Christ.

The proof that Peter was the first pope can be found in scripture, particularly when Jesus asks Peter alone to feed his sheep, and later, when Peter alone presides at the Council of Jerusalem.
It was Peter alone who had the guts to set up shop in Rome, where he was eventually crucified.
Further proof comes from the history of the Catholic church and the history of the world.
And for anyone who needs to see things with their own eyes, all they need to do is visit the "Scavi" beneath the Vatican, tour the ancient cemetery below St. Peter's basilica, and view the evidence ... including Peter's bones ... mid 20th century, archeologically proven evidence, that is beyond reproach.
Evidently, Jesus wasn't kidding when he said of Peter, "On this Rock I will build my church."

Why? Because they are wrong......most simply are attempting to support their postions by casting stones at the True Church.
From a Luteran website:
Luther Admitted that the Catholic Church is the True Church.
Page 265 reads: “Accordingly, we concede to the papacy that they sit in the true Church, possessing the office instituted by Christ and inherited from the apostles, to teach, baptize, administer the sacrament, absolve, ordain, etc., just as the Jews sat in their synagogues or assemblies and were the regularly established priesthood and authority of the Church. We admit all this and do not attack the office, although they are not willing to admit as much for us; yea, we confess that we have received these things from them, even as Christ by birth descended from the Jews and the apostles obtained the Scriptures from them.”

The original church died with the apostles and prophets. It won't lead to eternal hell, but some people don't understand what exactly leads to eternal hell, so they say it does because it fits the definition that they understand. I don't know any proof that Peter was the first "Pope," although he took over the affairs of the church after Christ returned to His Father.

The Nazarenes have been additionally prevalent as followers of 'the way'. Jesus stated i'm the way the certainty and the existence. He additionally stated 'the words I communicate are no longer my own, they arrive from the daddy' So i'm = God the way = Jesus the certainty = the Holy Spirit, which leads us to eternal existence. Jesus additionally asked 'who do you think of i'm' Matthew sixteen:sixteen Simon Peter spoke back, "you are the Christ, the Son of the residing God." Jesus gave instructions to his disciples to bypass after the misplaced sheep, Paul replaced into the only chosen to bypass after the misplaced between the gentiles, it replaced into divinely mandatory subsequently for those of Jewish foundation to reject him, his zealousness drove him to take the gospel to the gentiles, yet he nevertheless taught on the Sabbath. do a splash learn on what the Catholics did to absolutely everyone Jew or Christian who saved the Sabbath.

Some people point to Peter as the first pope because of these verses: Matthew 16:13-19. These verses are also used to claim authority as God on earth and the authority to excommunicate and forgive sin -- forcing God to accept such bestowed forgiveness or excommunication.
Unfortunately, much is lost in the translation (as they say). The first point concerns verse 18. If you examine the Greek, it should read like this:
"And I say also, unto thee, That thou art a small rolling stone, but upon this Immovable Rock [see verse 16] I will build my church; and the gates of the grave shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18
The second point concerns verse 19. Here, Jesus is not promising to give Peter, specifically, the "keys" to the kingdom of heaven nor exclusive power over the things of heaven. After all, just four verses later Jesus calls Peter by the name of satan and calls Peter an offense to Him.
No, instead, Jesus was promising to give the disciples, as a group, power from heaven (the Holy Spirit) which would be effective in binding the efforts of satan to deceive the world and the power of the Holy Spirit to free (loose) the hearts of men towards Salvation and the kingdom of God.

People say a ton of stupid things about the Church for whatever reason and motivation, but anyone who bothers to learn what she teaches and believes will find she is the original. People need to research what they've been taught and get rid of the misconceptions.

The present day catholic church did not start until 872 CE. The original catholic church, Eastern Orthodox began in 325 CE. Christians of all kinds proliferated for years before that.

I really want to answer your questions but I have put them in the back burner for now.
Read Halley's Book of the Bible.
Read "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel
Do some investigating in the church before you become convinced this is for you. Most of all pray and ask God's spirit to show you the way.
