I downloaded an exe file and when I try to open it it opnes a little command prompt window then it quickly closes back. Please help, because I need that file.

you probably just installed a virus ... either that or the application isnt compatible with ur version of windows or it was an incomplete download ..

An exe is an executable file - it should open by double clicking on it - otherwise it may be corrupt or needs to be run in the command prompt window. To get to the command prompt window go to Start > Run - now type 'cmd' without the quotes.

Please re-post with specifics: Name of the application, its function, where you went to download it, etc.
Then, we can try to help.
My best guess is: You just infected your PC with malware. Search in the Discovery Tab for more info on "malware".
