Welcome to "America under Bush"
With his administrations outrageous spending, and rising price of oil and gas, it's surprising to me that some places are just getting around to raising their grocery prices.....
Gas here is $2.90 a gallon for 87 octane, and it hasn't been under $2.50 for so long, I couldn't actually tell you when the last time was......
for a gallon of milk - $3.90 to $4.20
hamburger nearing $3 a pound
chicken nearing the $3 mark
Guess for the first time in many years, I'll be going hunting again come seasons opening...

I work for a national broadline distributor. inflation is killing us. We are selling the same case count but the margins are not there. Inflation is up 7-11%. you buy the same foods every week, price is higher but the raw cost is up therefore the sell price is up.

One word: CORN.
The US is trying to get this ethanol boom going. So more farmers converted more acres to corn in hopes of selling at a higher price. However, they still have to feed the livestock. Cattle eat corn, therefore beef and milk prices have gone up. Chicken eat corn, therefore chicken and egg prices have gone up. The cost of gas is still high, there's your transportation costs. You can trace about any food item back to corn and the ethanol boom.

Yeah, my husband was freaking out asking me why groceries were costing so much more than they used to just a few months ago and asking me if I was buying anything different...but it's just the cost of everything rising...it sucks!!!

Yes,I know exactly what you mean! We buy only the basic necessities for groceries and it is well over $100.00 and that is just for the basic things like milk, bread, soap, paper towels,etc..

the price of oil isn't the only culprit ........ believe it or not the fact that people don't or can't travel and the 'convenience store's' are more attractive they are cashing in on the 'inconconvenience'; it a cycle this thing called inflation ..... supply and demand.
