I'm starting a business of video slideshows for weddings, anniversaries, things like that, and I'm just curious what people think. I'm a graphic designer for a major tv station in Chicago and I think this would be a fun thing to do on the side. I have some examples at www.kmi-design.com if you are curious.

I gotta agree--it's just too easy. I mean I can even do it for free on myspace. Why pay for what myspace does for free?

Plus I have been to many weddings when they did that. The only one I enjoyed was when the brides father had passed and she did pictures of her and her dad while the song she would have danced to played.

All the other weddings that have played slideshows of them--growing up and then pics of them together--were just so boring. And if the point is just for the couple to have it, they could just load the pictures onto a digital picture frame and then it's automatically in a slideshow.

It would have to be really really cheap in order to be worth paying for. In which case, not worth your time to do it if it takes you more than an hour.

Absolutely. That would probably be better than a video of the wedding. You have the expertise to do this, so I think it would be a great side job and extra spending money for you. You could do your first wedding free and use it to drum up new business. Also if you put music to it, whatever the couple likes, that would make it even more impressive. You could not only do weddings, but anniversary celebrations, family reunions, high school graduations, the list is endless. Good luck! I think you can be successful with this!

I'm personally paying my sister's boyfriend (he works for a large company and does it for a living) to videotape the wedding ceremony and create a video slideshow. I think it's a great idea and a lasting memory, but I'd definitely recommend getting it done by a family friend before a professional for a number of reasons (cost, trust, expectations, etc).

Often videographers will include the slideshows as part of their package. I'm not sure how much money you'd make having that completely separate. As a bride, I'd be looking for the best deals. I'd choose a videographer who does slideshows versus someone who does only slideshows.

I would with out a doubt but like one of the other girls said there are photographers now a days that to that or atleast they do in California where I live. It of course costs extra but I think that it would be worth it. I think that is a great idea and I know that I would use it at big birthday parties, my wedding, anniversaries and work productions. Great idea...!

No, I wouldn't pay extra money for that, because I'm not a big fan of the video slideshow, anyway.

No. Even a novice with computers can make a nice slideshow easily. I wouldnt pay anyone to do it. Besides, the hard part is choosing which photos to include-- and you couldnt do that part.

this is your day, if you can afford it... sure. I see it all the time on the show "Whose Wedding is it anyway" but make sure it does not distract from the main event, maybe during the cocktail hour or when the food is being served, not during dancing or any time where the bride and groom are the center of the attention,
Good Luck

Yes I would want that. If I were getting married, or was in charge of extras.

It doesn't matter to me how easy it would be to do myself, I would not do it myself. Someone who would take the time to do it well, I would pay that person.
