I would bring her to the vet for a proper diagnosis. She could have anything from a bacterial infection to fleas to ear mites. Your vet will be able to determine this and then send you home with PROPER medication to treat the issue.
I tell clients to NEVER mess with dogs ears (or eyes) themselves. You are doing a lot more harm than good by putting baby rash ointment in her ear, don't do that again, OK?

Sounds like an ear infection to me. And NO do not put baby rash ointment in the dogs ear unless you want to make the problem worse. GET THAT DOG TO A VET asap!

Sounds as though your dog has an ear infection. When dogs shake their heads a lot or incessantly scratch at their ear(s) it is a sign of an ear infection. Your dog needs to see the vet immediately so that her infection can be treated properly. Without proper treatment, she could lose her hearing in that ear. And NEVER use human medications on a dog, they can have severe adverse reactions and in some cases cause death.

Please take your dog to the vet. Home remedies will not work for this since it sounds like a bacterial infection. If it is bad, your dog may need to have her ear flushed to clear the infection. We see this a lot with beagles and breeds that have long ears preventing air to circulate.
The problem is not the outside of the ear- it is what is going on inside. Baby rash ointment will do nothing for that.
Take her to the vet before she suffers permanent hearing loss.

She needs to see the vet. If untreated her hearing can be damaged. Sometimes, if left too long, the canal to the ear swells and it's about impossible to get any medication in there to clear up the problem. There are a lot of home remedies out there but the best thing is to see the vet. He may even culture the drainage to see what is the name of the bug causing the problem so he can treat it more effectively.

No, baby rash ointment won't help -- the dog has an infection in her ear. Most likely a yeast infection. The dog needs to be taken to the vet and given anitbiotics. In the future, clean your dog's ears regularly, to prevent bacterial growth.

Calm down! At my house I have two beagle poodle mixes, and this happens to them all the time. We keep some ear flushing drying liquid handy. First put some foaming ear cleanser in her ear to loosen the dirt or whatever is trapped up there. Put a little flushing drying liquid in her ear and rub it a little. This should stop the discomfort, at least for a little while. I'm not sure this helps any, because I don't know where we buy the stuff, but when in doubt, bring your dog to the vet.
Give your dog a pat for me!

Your dog has a bad ear infection and is scratching to relieve the discomfort. Why have you not taken her to the vet who will give her antibiotic eardrops ? if this is left too long she may suffer long term damage. In the meantime you are happy to see her scratch and suffer !
