Peter also, cowardly, escaped capture several times (unlike others of whom were willing to be martyred for their beliefs)
Peter tried to leave Rome during the persecution of Nero, where he met jesus on the Via Appia, going in the opposite direction; "Where are you going my Lord" he asked; "To Rome to be crucified again" Jesus replied. Peter then turned back and was captured and crucified.
Masaccio's Martyrdom of StPeter, an early 15C Painted Panel, illustrated the legend that Peter was crucified upside down. "It is tradition that he asked to be criucified this way as to avoid invidious comparison to the crucifiction of Christ". dont you think that this act was a little bumptious?
my question is this; How can a man of whom lived so pusillaniously within the church of Christ, become the honoured Apostle of whom Christ built his church? plus who the Catholic Popes have based their entire authority through?
what are your thoughts, personally

I find it apt that his crucifiction is a symbol for rejection and mockery of Jesus within Satanism.

Ibrahim; knowledge is the key, most believers have no knowledge of the foundation of which their church is built, this knowledge will enlighten their mind

The early christian (325 AD + ) realised that there was some sort of diferent relationship between Peter and Jesus.
Having already had James removed (62 AD) and Mark later that year Peter was in fact the only original apostle left (67 AD) The year that Linus took over the Greek version of the Coptic cult set up by James (34 AD) and at this time being manipulated and controled by Paul, and his young "friend" Luke.
The word christian first appears in Antioch (Peters home, where he was the bishop) in the year 47 AD.

Peter has always been an enigma, was Jesus saying that upon Peter he would build his church or upon his statement? I have come to believe it was the statement, not the person. By the way, do you know that Peter converted a eunuch and then was seen miles away afterward? How strange that event was. I know the church has errored in thinking Peter as a saint, he was just a young deciple.

Woww. Peter denied Jesus three times and many today deny Him more than that. Ohh yeah Peter surely was a coward. Roman Emperor Nero hated Peter and what he stood for, which was God. So he was led in his fury to slaughter the Apostles. Because of the persecution, Peter was crucified upside down while in Rome. He was never asked how he wanted to be crucified.
Peter is one of the most important apostles of the 12. He may have denied Jesus three times but his failings are treated as symptoms of man’s sinfulness or weakness which can be overcome through faith in Jesus. And he overcame it. he is only human and no human is perfect not even Peter who is said to be the founder of the Church of Christ.
I often wonder why you are so interested in Christianity and what it stands for. But its good that you ask questions. The better to understand what you don't believe in the first place.

Peter knew just like Jesus did that until it was time he should not be caught. When you say he met Jesus and he said "I am going to Rome to be crucified again", this is alluding to St. Peter as being the head of the body of Christ on Earth, which is what the Pope is.
Yes CJ, Peter was married---to a woman named perpetua who was martyred with him---this is where we get the word perpetual---from Peter's wife--- pointing to the longevity of his Church

Asking to be crucified upside down because one is unworthy to be crucified like Jesus is "offensively self-assertive"? No, it was a sign of great humility.
Peter was anything but pusillanimous. He gave up his livelihood and family to follow Jesus. When others turned away, Peter remained (see John 6:68). He accepted poverty, danger, and hardship, eventually leaving his native land to die as a martyr in Rome. He was impetuous, and sometimes foolish, as when he defended Jesus with a sword. This does not suggest a cowardly attitude.
Peter can hardly be faulted for evading capture; Jesus, a hunted man, did exactly the same thing on several occasions. True, Peter once deserted the Lord and denied knowing him, but he repented and returned in faith and self-sacrifice. Jesus accepted his best disciple back, reiterated his leadership, and told him, "Feed my lambs."
Even before Peter's denial, Jesus said, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again [after the denials], strengthen your brethren" (Luke 22:31-32).
Catholic leaders don't base their authority on Peter; they trace their history to Peter, the first appointed leader of Jesus' only Church.
Cheers,
Bruce

Jesus had miracles power, he still had to be in hanging on cross. so to his disciple Peter denied to escape is quite easy to understand because he did not want to be hanged too. Had miracle power is so simple as to a practiser and as he know the power will bring him down and let him down again. If not to the last moment, none of them will show his power. 3-4 years ago, there was an advertisement to get LIDON, which was 2 photos, who can tell what had happenned in that area will pass the exam and will have 5 million dollars a year salary.
They want to know where is LIDON. None can tell and none applied this job. If one who can tell, will not want 5 million dollars.
This is out of silas. None will apply the job.

I easily have massive problems with Mathew, its the least creadible of the Gospels, written for an objective industry - to be study out loud - and is the only textual content fabric that supplies capability to Peter, to create this church in Rome. yet while he had grew to become approximately and appeared on His disciples, He rebuked Peter, announcing, Get you at the back of Me, devil: for you rejoice with no longer the flaws that be of God, however the flaws that be of guys.” If Christ grew to become into no longer implying that precise guy Peter grew to become into devil - on condition that Peter grew to become into the main outspoken of the disciples - do you think of that the all smart Jesus, who in no way spoke in something yet clean parabels, could without warning forget approximately he grew to become into the son of god, and enable rip with words that devil had prompted Peter - his rock -, inflicting him to “rebuke Him? I doubt it. i think of it exhibits a human area, and it additionally undermines the Catholic church's declare that Peter, and his papal successors, are infallible as Catholics declare. it relatively is the place they get this holy ghost in to maintain them, and declare that Catholic doctrine would not proclaim that the pope can in no way make a mistake in very own judgment. it relatively is barely while he completely engages his authority as successor of Peter speaking from Peter’s seat of authority (ex cathedra) that the Church ensures him to be performing decrease than the charism of actuality given by making use of the father interior the direction of the Spirit. do no longer you purely love having the get out of reformatory card, and possessing each and every of the purple streets in Monopoly...

Don't forget Peter was married.
Don't forget that nobody went to Peter for any questions answered, and nobody was under Peter in any way. He had no autority over anyone.
Don't forget that Peter himself deferred to Paul as to doctrine.
